| Parents are always welcome at St John’s and we value their contribution. School starts at 09.00 and finishes at 3.20pm Teachers are available for very brief discussions at 08.50 or at 3.20pm. If you would like a more time to discuss your child please make an appointment with the class teacher. Attendance If you know that your child will be absent on a particular day please inform the class teacher prior to the day. But please try to make dental appointments etc outside of the school day. If your child is ill please contact the school by telephone on the above number, send a note on your child’s return or speak to the class teacher. Children should attend school everyday unless they are unwell. Holidays should be taken during school holiday periods. Absence from school during term time is not encouraged. The governors will allow ten days absence for extenuating circumstances only. If an absence exceeds ten days a child will be taken off the school role. School Dinners Children may bring a healthy packed lunch or have a school lunch. School lunches cost £1.85 per day or £ 9.25 a week. Some families may be entitled to free school meals, please contact our office staff for further information on this. Children at St John’s have milk and fruit as a snack during the day. Depending on the age of your child you will be asked to pay for this. Milk is charged at £5.10 per term and fruit at £5.00 per term. School Trips We like our pupils to develop first hand experiences as often as possible and therefore your child will take part in educational trips. When your child starts school you will be asked for permission for your child to go on local trips – to local shops, the market, church etc. For other trips separate permission letters will be given. Contributions towards school trips will be asked for, these are to cover the cost of transport and entry. If you feel you cannot make a contribution towards a trip please discuss it with the class teacher or head teacher. |
